HONG KONG air CHONGQING (1N) CRUISE THE YANGZI (3N) WUHAN air HONG KONG
Fly from Hong Kong to Chongqing, a mountainous city famous under its wartime name Chungking for the local caves which served as air raid shelters against Japanese bombing. The following day marks the start of your 4 day cruise on the mighty Yangzi, one of the natural wonders of the world whose meandering course divides China north from south.
You are on the river cruise of a lifetime: 4 unforgettable days on the mighty Yangzi coursing downstream 120 miles of the fabulous Three Gorges from the powerful current built up at the Devil's Gate leading into the narrow Qutang Gorge surrounded by perpendicular granite cliffs nearly 4000 feet high; the Wu Gorge, where you may disembark for an excursion to view the (to some) even more surpassing sights of the "Three Lesser Gorges"; and finally the third and longest Xiling Gorge, altogether constituting a series of spectacular tableaux of rugged grandeur which have inspired generations of awestruck poets and painters.
In the course of this cruise you have passed from Sichuan Province into Hubei Province and arrived at the latter's capital, Wuhan, at the confluence of the Yangtze and Han rivers. Upon docking, you make a city tour including the Hubei Provincial Museum featuring the remarkable collection (including 60 bronze bells) of the excavated funerary relics from the tomb of one Jin Zhou and, time permitting, visit Wuhan's famous Yellow Crane Tower.
Morning flight returns you from Wuhan to Hong Kong.
